Water quality, a challenge to ensure our survival
Abstract
Water, a vital resource for human survival, has been threatened by the greed and ignorance of those who depend on it.
Latin America, and especially the Central American region, is exposed to hydrometeorological conditions that year after year impact the most vulnerable people, adding to this scenario the effects of Climate Change that has gradually silenced the voices of its strongest detractors, showing that it is a reality and that, if actions are not taken to mitigate it, it will have incalculable consequences.
These challenges force the regional scientific community to make efforts to identify mitigation and adaptation measures that allow ensuring the availability of water resources in quantity and quality to be able to preserve our vital functions and generate conditions to promote the development of our populations.
This is easy to say, but in countries where resources are not allocated for research and that lack governance that facilitates the implementation of actions, the outlook looks bleak and even impossible to solve.
