Abstract

This special edition of the journal Agua, Saneamiento & Ambiente celebrates ERIS's 60th anniversary with a selection of scientific articles that reflect the diversity and depth of its academic impact. The studies address topics such as the presence of toxic metals in crops, the efficiency of wastewater disinfection, the analysis of nitrites and nitrates in urban drainage, the biodigestion of organic waste, and proposals for the management of critical water recharge areas. Also included are research on aquatic ecosystems, such as the bathymetric study of the Ayarza Lagoon and the presence of amoebas tested in Central American lakes, highlighting the School's interdisciplinary and regional focus.
