Abstract

The article on the treatment of wastewater from textile by electrocoagulation was to evaluate laboratory scale removal of color, turbidity and chemical oxygen demand (COD) in the electrocoagulation unit designed for domestic waste water, for it samples were taken one meter wastewater downstream of the mixing point of origin of textile effluent in the river Xayá, eight repetitions were performed with samples of 20 liters each evaluated for the removal percentage parameters mentioned. For a retention time of one hour in the unit determined that the electrocoagulation method removes up to 97% black, 96% to 69% turbidity and chemical oxygen demand of the contaminated water source with textile dyes.
