CARACTERIZACION DE LOS RESIDUOS SOLIDOS URBANOS DEL MUNICIPIO DE SANTA CATARINA PINULA

Abstract

The article is the characterization of municipal solid waste in the municipality of Santa Catarina Pínula, analyzing samples of origin for this household, institutional and commercial. In the household fraction was analyzed a sample of 169 homes for 5 consecutive days, resulting in a production percapita (PPC) of 0.83 kg / person-day, with its physical composition mostly organic, with 57.82% for leftovers. These residues had a high moisture content, 71.19%, likewise a density of 233.23 kg / m³. With regard to residues of institutional and commercial origin, were sampled point, being in both cases that the largest percentage are the remains of food with a 43.38 and 39.65% and 70.89 and the same density of 174.68 kg / m³ respectively. It was also found that residues institutional source have a considerable amount of paper and paperboard 33.24% commercial waste and a high content of 24.20% plastics. The characterization is useful for estimating the pollution load of waste, and for the modeling of integrated solid waste management.
