EVALUACIÓN DE LA CÁSCARA DE BANANO (MUSA AAA) VARIEDAD WILLIAMS PARA REMOCIÓN DE ARSÉNICO EN AGUA PARA CONSUMO HUMANO
Keywords:
Arsenic, banana peel, filter, filter media, efficiency, removalAbstract
The efficiency of banana skin as a filter medium, by testing water samples produced in the laboratory with an arsenic concentration of 0.05 mg / l as established by the Pan American Center for Sanitary Engineering - CEPIS to water sources purification. Satisfactory results were obtained, up to 80% removal. The filter presented a sprint of about 28 minutes and gave color to the water, so it is not recommended for use at the household level, however, may be under consideration for use in emergencies. It was developed by a research aimed to find a viable and easily produced for the removal of arsenic in drinking water, taking it to the level allowed by Salvadoran standard portable water, 0.01 mg / l
