USO DEL SUELO COMO TRATAMIENTO SECUNDARIO PARA LA REMOCION DE MATERIA ORGANICA DE LAS AGUAS RESIDUALES DOMESTICAS
Keywords:
Pollution, biochemical oxygen demand, infiltration-percolation trenchesAbstract
The present article was done to evaluate, the efficiency of removal organic matter in domestic wastewater generated at the Wastewater Treatment Plant "Ing. Arturo Pazos Sosa", using a modified natural soil conditions as a secondary treatment. We took 8 samplings to determine the BOD5 and COD, the average values for system imput were 398.55 mg/l of BOD5 and 681.25 mg/l of COD, reaching values of removal efficiencies of 99% to obtain an average value of 3.41 mg/l of BOD5 to the system output and standard deviation of 3.8mg/l. Removal efficiency of 98% of COD to obtain an average value of 12.5 mg/l to the system output and standard deviation of 13.25 mg/l, so it is concluded that such removal percentages are satisfactory. This article is part of research “Soil use as a secondary treatment of domestic waste water” by the MSc. Ivis Peralta and MSc. Wilber Pérez, and research results are shared with the MSc. Andy Alonzo.
