Resumen

El siguiente trabajo pone en relieve las tendencias históricas, tecnológicas e institucionales que preceden a dos de las crisis más recientes que se han tenido que asumirse desde el campo sociológico. Por un lado, arquitecturas digitales expansivas que, a través de la bandera de la Big Data o macrodatos, han cuestionado el papel analítico y metodológico de la sociología. Por otro lado, los nuevos modelos de gestión de la administración pública que han erosionado y fragmentado el núcleo distintivo de la disciplina. En Guatemala estas tendencias se superponen a una serie de condicionantes que, se sostendrá, promueven un tipo de crisis que la sociología guatemalteca no está en la capacidad de afrontar.
